What is organic cotton or bio cotton?
This is a classic cotton, which is grown without the use of herbicides, pesticides and artificial fertilizers. The way in which high yields are still achieved is completely natural. Knowledge of natural biodiversity is used during cultivation. Thanks to this, farmers are able to protect cotton from pests, for example by planting certain crops near the cotton that natural enemies of pests seek out. Growing several species together also helps prevent weeds. This is also prevented by effective irrigation, hoeing and mulching.
How is organic cotton better than conventional cotton?
- It does not burden the environment, compared to conventional cotton it needs up to 95% less water to grow
- It has long-term positive consequences in protecting lives and water resources
- The fibers are finer and of higher quality thanks to manual collection
- It is harmless to health and suitable even for infants and allergy sufferers
- The entire production process from seed to final product is carried out without harmful chemicals.
- Enabling people to live better lives through ethical and clean production
