What is organic cotton?

It's classic cotton grown without herbicides, pesticides or artificial fertilisers. The way high yields are still achieved is entirely natural: cultivation draws on knowledge of natural biodiversity. This allows farmers to protect the cotton from pests, for example by planting certain crops nearby that attract the pests' natural enemies. Growing several species together also helps prevent weeds, which are further kept at bay through efficient irrigation, hoeing and mulching.
